You have made an amazing alcohol ink art on your yupo/ synthetic paper and now you want to frame it. Here is how to mount yupo paper onto a canvas board.
You will need:
- Yupo/ synthetic paper
- Canvas board (slightly smaller compared to the yupo paper)
- Heavy body gel medium (this will act as a binder)
- Roller pin (or anything to roll the paper onto the board)
- Kitchen cloth (to cover the yupo while rolling)
- Craft knife/ cutter
Step 1 : Make sure your yupo paper is slightly bigger than the canvas board. If you are in India, you can use canvas boards by Camlin that have a wooden frame with supporting at the back.
Take some heavy body gel medium and using a brush, spread it evenly onto the canvas board - especially at the corners and edges. A great Indian alternative is the Acrylic Heavy Gel Medium (Gloss) by Itsybitsy.
Step 2 : Place your yupo paper on top of the gel medium. Then place a kitchen clock on it and use a roller pin to remove any air bubbles to stick the yupo paper to the board.
Step 3 : Place the canvas board face down and place some heavy weight on it. Leave it to dry for atleast 12 hours.
Step 4 : Once dry, using a craft knife/ cutter, trim the extra sides along the edges of the canvas board. And you are done!
